When it rains, it floods in Texas. Areas south of us, like Uvalde, Castroville and Sabinal are living through an emergency and APA! has been called on to help the animals who have nowhere to turn.

 We began offering aid the night of Tuesday, July 14, working to secure fosters for 10 dogs in the Castroville shelter, an open-air shelter that sits at the bottom of a valley. Today, our flood response continues as our APA! teams remain on the ground across South Central Texas, working directly with community leaders and shelters to deliver critical emergency supplies and provide support to both shelter and community members’ pets. Over the past 4 days, we have taken in over 270 animals, with more coming today and over the weekend. Right now, we are still in the deep end.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

• ADOPT: We’re offering Name Your Own Adoption Fee. If the fee has stood between you and bringing home a family member, now’s the time to act!

• FOSTER: We’re looking for minimal 3 week fosters but are really hopeful we can move pets into foster homes until adoption.

• DONATE: We’re fueling our vans and teams to set up a staging and triage center in the heart of the disaster. We’ll need to purchase even more preventatives than our already ramped up supply, will require PPE and additional triage supplies. If you can support these efforts, please make a gift now
